Calligraphy, painting, documents, letters and other items that accompany tea utensils and, are mounted as hanging scrolls (*kakemono 掛物), then stored with the tea utensils. Letters might include a written statement of an expert opinion regarding a tea utensil or a painting or calligraphy used in the tea ceremony. Soefuku also may include letters which concern the awarding of the utensils to someone. Also included in this category are rough sketches or designs (*shita-e 下絵) for the paintings which the soefuku accompany. Soefuku can also mean a small hanging scroll which accompanies a larger valued hanging scroll.
