souhengaki 宗へん垣

Lit. Souhen 宗へん fence. A simple type of open fence named after tea master Yamada Souhen 山田宗へん (1627-1708). Thin bamboo slats are arranged on a vertical-horizontal grid with crude log posts at the outside.
