Also read somakaku. Timber that is made square by hewing and shaving with a hatchet *ono 斧, or an adze *chouna 釿, or a broad ax *masakari 鉞. There are three sizes: oogaku 大角 (30cm square or greater), chuugaku 中角 (18-30cm square), and kogaku 小角 (6-12cm square).
