Flush or even surfaces. Surfaces that are on the same plane. For example, a threshold *shikii 敷居 that is flush with the straw mat *tatami 畳 floor of the main room. In the Seisenkaku 成巽閣 tea ceremony house, called Seikouken 清香軒 (1863) Ishikawa prefecture, are alcoves *tokonoma 床の間 flush with the tatami, also called *fumikomidoko 踏込床.
