saimyouji shiorido　西明寺枝折戸

Lit. Saimyouji 西明寺 style latticed bamboo door. One type of raised lattice door *agesudo 揚簀戸 found in a tea garden *roji 露地, usually at the base of a hillpath. Typically about 3 shaku 尺 high and 2 shaku wide, it is a latticed bamboo door *shiorido 枝折戸 with a rounded rather than rectilinear frame. In ISHIGUMI SONOU YAEGAKIDEN 石組園生八重垣伝 (1827) by Akisato Ritou 秋里籬島, this type of agesudo is called saimyouji shiorido.
