ryoumengaki 両面垣

Also ryoumegaki 両目垣. An interlocking bamboo fence. Bamboo, about 3cm in diameter, are cut in half vertically and set with the insides facing each other so that they can be interlocked. A horizontal batten is attached to strong posts and traditionally tied to the bamboo with heavy rope made of bracken. The strong posts are used also to secure both the bamboo which is pounded into the ground, and the horizontal.
