A net-like ornament strung with jewels or precious metals and hung from the canopy *tengai 天蓋, or on the front of a Buddhist image. Described in Pure Land Buddhist, Joudokyou 浄土教 texts. A good example is the ramou hanging from the canopy over the Shaka sanzonzou 釈迦三尊像 (6-7c) in Houryuuji *Kondou 法隆寺金堂, Nara.
