ooma 大間

1 A gate, mon 門, with multiple pillars with large intervals between them.
One example is Nanzenji Sanmon 南禅寺三門, a very large two storied gate in Kyoto, 1628. It has five bays, with the three center bays open for passage.

2 Also *hiroma 広間, a large room used by noblemen and shogun 将軍 in medeival ages.

3 Kyouma 京間, *tatami 畳 in Kyoto 京都, Nara 奈良, Osaka 大阪 and Seto 瀬戸 areas. See *ken 間.
