numazugaki 沼津垣

Also called ajirogaki 網代垣 or ajiro takegaki 網代竹垣. A type of wickerwork fence, especially popular in Numazu 沼津 and elsewhere in Shizuoka prefecture. Thin board, slender bamboo or split bamboo are used. The wickerwork pattern is generally woven diagonally, in sections, and when completed attached to posts already erected in the soil.
