nori-ita 乗板
KEY WORD : art history / paintings

A raised platform used during the production of large-scale paintings. Most such paintings are placed on the floor while being produced, and when a painting is particularly large, a raised platform may be placed over the paper enabling artist to walk out over the large surface to reach the center portions. Occasionally, a board is set directly on the surface to enable the artist to paint details.
