nokidomoegawara 軒巴瓦
KEY WORD : architecture / roofing tiles

Also *nokimarugawara 軒丸瓦. A popular name for the semi-cylindrical eave-end tile which has a circular pendant disk or antefix attached at an angle, inclining slightly inward at the top and slightly outward at the bottom. The name originated from the widespread use of the comma pattern *tomoemon 巴文 decorating the disk. This disk hangs down over the eave-end. The tile covers the seams of the contiguous broad, concave, eave-end tiles *nokihiragawara 軒平瓦 or *hira karakusagawara 平唐草瓦.
