Eaves. The part of a roof that extends beyond the exterior wall of a building. There are single eaves *hitonoki 一軒, double eaves *futanoki 二軒 and triple eaves *minoki 三軒. Eaves made of boards without rafters are called boarded eaves *itanoki 板軒. When double eaves are composed of base rafters *jidaruki 地垂木, and flying rafters *hien daruki 飛檐垂木 the former are called big eaves *oonoki 大軒, and the latter are called small eaves *konoki 小軒. Sobanoki 傍軒 are the eaves constructed along the bargeboards *hafu 破風.
