nakaita-no-seki 中板席

A tea ceremony room or house that contains a board *naka-ita 中板, set between the host's mat *temaedatami 点前畳 and the guests' mats. Examples: Nejikago-no-seki 捻駕籠席 (1832), Shouma 昭和 Museum in Aichi prefecture. The place for the hearth *ro 炉, is set in the board separating the host's mat and the three mats for the guests. Other examples include: Taimadera Nakanobou 当麻寺中の坊 (17c) in Nara, Nijou nakaita-no-seki 二畳中板席; Kanden'an 管田庵 (1792) in Shimane prefecture, Ichijoudaime 一畳台目.
