nagekakebari 投掛梁

A transverse beam *hari 梁 made in two sections and coupled by a stub-tenon-scarf joint, koya daimochitsugi 小屋台持継, and secured by pins *daboso 太ぼぞ and bolts. The nagekakebari is strengthened by a shortened purlin called *shikibari 敷梁 which runs parallel to the ridge and is supported by large pillars. This type of beam is usually found in a building with a wide transverse measure.
