MUSOURYUU CHITEI @–²‘‹—¬Ž‘’λ
KEY WORD :@architecture / gardens

Lit. Corrective on Gardens of the Musou Lineage. A late Edo period treatise on landscape gardening. According to the preface it was written in 1797. Although no author is given, because of the title linking the book to the Musou lineage the work has often been attributed to Sekiryuu Ξ—³, a leading designer of that style. However, despite the title, the contents of MUSOURYUU CHITEI show little connection to the gardens of Musou Kokushi –²‘‹‘Žt (1275-1351). In fact, the treatise is based closely on the *TEIZOU HISHO ’λ‘’”鏑, giving instructions on construction and placement of ponds and steams, islands, lanterns, tea gardens, etc.
