Also read minatoshi. Paper pasted from the edge of *tatami 畳 to at least 24cm up the wall behind the guest mat *kyakudatami 客畳, in a hut-style tea ceremony room. It is a low grade *torinoko 鳥の子 paper, either black or gray. It prevents the guest's clothes from becoming soiled by rubbing against the clay wall.
