Lit. eye-gap door. A simple informal door that is composed of horizontal lattice yokogoushi 横格子 set fairly widely apart. The lattice is inserted into the frame with the top and bottom rails attached to the sides rails like ties *nuki 貫. The top and bottom pieces of lattice are tightly pressed against the top and bottom rails respectively. There are no boards closing the spaces between the lattice. The mesukido is used in much the same way an ordinary open lattice door koushido 格子戸 and may also serve as a temporary wooden door karikido 仮木戸.
