A well with a particular arrangement of stone sidings for its top and shaft lining. It has four lining elements each of which abuts the side of the next, just short of the end. Sometimes a vertical channel or slot is cut in the side of each piece to recieve the end of the next. The regular pattern created usually rotates in a clockwise direction.
