Ch: manhuahui. Lit. gathering amid myriad flowers. A Chinese painting subject showing the peony procession of Yangzhou —gB (Jp: Youshuu —gB). Because Yangzhou was known for beautiful peonies, the governor Cai Fanqing (Jp: Sai Hankyou δο”Ι‹¨) organized a huge civic event in which the people of the city, all holding flowers, gathered in a central location. The theme was rendered in late 16c fan paintings (for example at Nanzenji “μ‘TŽ›, Kyoto) by *Kanouha Žλ–μ”h artists.
