madonageshi 窓長押

The non-penetrating tie beams used for the frame of a window opening. One, called madoshita nageshi 窓下長押, is placed at the bottom part of the window, and the other madoue nageshi 窓上長押, is set above the window. An example can be seen at Houryuuji *Yumedono 法隆寺夢殿 in Nara, above and below the window opening, which is filled with square, vertical muntins *renjimado 連子窓 (3).
