kushigatamado 櫛形窓

A window in the shape of a comb *kushigata 櫛形. Sometimes built into outside walls above raindoors *amado 雨戸, with sliding doors fitted on the inside. Kushigatamado were used in the Kyoto Gosho Seiryouden 京都御所清涼殿. The ogival window *katoumado 火灯窓, is considered to be a type of kushigatamado.
