Also called se-ita 背板. A roof board that is cut along the annual rings nenrin 年輪 of a tree trunk. Such timber has superior resistance to weathering, warping or rot. Thus, it is excellent as a base for tile, shingles or thatch. The term kure also may refer to left over boards after the logs have been processed.
