kobusuma 小襖

The small, opaque, paper-framed sliding doors found on cupboards above or below shelving adjacent to the alcove *tokonoma 床の間. This is a characteristic of the *shoin 書院 style. The best examples of the kobusuma are found at Myoushinji Reiun-in Shoin 妙心寺霊雲院書院 in Kyoto, built in the second half of the 16c.
