kirisasu 切扠首

1 A short, diagonal timber which receives the helmet beam kabutogeta 兜桁 on a thatched roof kusayane 草屋根. It corresponds to the haitsuke gasshou 配付け合掌 on a non-thatched roof. See *sasu 扠首.

2 A short, diagonal timber used on structures consisting of a main building and a subordinate building *geya 下屋. It connects the main house pillar and the subordinate house pillar, and serves as an extension of the oblique rafter *sasu 扠首, that projects from the main house.
