Also written 金神. A golden figure of Buddha. This may be cast in gold, or made of copper or bronze with a golden colored surface. Glowing, golden skin is one of the 32 features of Buddha *sanjuunisou 三十二相 and is described in various ancient Chinese books such as the Hou-Han-Shu (Jp: GOKANSHO 後漢書), Wei-Shu (Jp: GISHO 魏書), and the Fo-Zu-Tong-Ji (Jp: BUSSOTOUKI 仏祖統記).
