kenpon 絹本

A painting or calligraphy executed on silk; the term is applied to specify the support used for the work. In particular, painting done on a kind of shiny silk, nume 絖 is called kouhon 絖本, and that done on figured silk, aya 綾 is called ryouhon 綾本.
