kawari-e 異り絵

Also yose-e 寄せ絵. A type of woodblock print that depicted human faces, necks or hands with contorted miniature human forms as the features. These prints were popularized by Utagawa Kuniyoshi 歌川国芳 (1797-1861) and continued by his pupil Yoshifuji 芳藤 (1826-87).
