kawarakugi 瓦釘

Nails used to secure broad concave tiles *hiragawara 平瓦 and semi-cylindrical tiles *marugawara 丸瓦, to a sloping roof sheathing to prevent it from shipping. Nail holes are made in filler tiles *mendogawara 面戸瓦. Nails are pounded into the sheathing through holes, which are called tsuriana 吊穴.
