katasuso 肩裾

Lit. shoulders and hem. The type of *kosode 小袖 decoration where motifs are confined to the shoulders and upper torso and from the knees to the hemline. This top and bottom decoration is typically made of straight, undulating; suhama katasuso 州浜肩裾 or angular lines and patterns of flowers and birds. The style was popular from the Muromachi through the early Edo periods for both commoners and samurai 侍.
