kanshou　鑑賞

Appreciation. To take intuitive pleasure in the total sense of form and expression of content of a work of art. Inherent in this type of appreciation is the ability to form a personal opinion and make value judgements regarding quality. Kanshou differs from another term kanshou 観照 which has the same pronunciation but different characters; the latter term concerns aesthetics.
