kakikomi 欠込

Also pronounced kakikomu; watarikakitsugi 渡欠継. Also written kakikomu 缺込む in old sources. One of the joints belonging to a group of crossed, right angle joints called juujikei 十字形. It is used to secure two members at right angle. Only one member has a part cut out about half its thickness, and wide enough to receive an uncut timber at right angles to it.
