The decorative pattern of a ten-petalled flower which is used on roof tiles, particularly on round eaves tiles *nokimarugawara Œ¬ŠΫŠ’. Juuyou (ten-leaf) refers to the number of petals, and *soben ‘f•Ω (simple petal) refers to their plain, undecorated form. They have been found on the earliest Japanese roof tiles excavated from Asukadera ”ς’ΉŽ›, Houryuuji –@—²Ž›, late 6c in Nara. A similar design with nine petals is called kuyousoben rengemon ‹γ—t‘f•Ω˜@‰Ψ•Ά, and with eight petals, hachiyousoben rengemon ”ͺ—t‘f•Ω˜@‰Ψ•Ά.
