A standard height for a Buddhist statue. A variation of the *jouroku δ˜Z. Abbreviation of one jou δ and eight shaku ŽΪ (approximately 540 cm or 18 feet). 1 jou= 10 shaku: 1 shaku = 30 cm or 1 foot. Jouhachi images are seldom found in Japan, but the standing *Senju Kannon ηŽθŠΟ‰Ή in Toushoudaiji “‚΅’ρŽ› (late 8c-early 9c) is 538 cm tall and thought to have been based on this standard.
