hon'yamato 本大和

An abbreviation of hon'yamatokaki 本大和掻. Also pronounced hon'yamatogaki. A type of decoration used on teahouses with an exposed-lath window *shitajimado 下地窓. It entails wisteria tendrils fujitsuru 藤蔓, that wrap around the bamboo laths from both ends. Decoration with tendrils wound from only one end of the lath is called katayamatokaki 片大和掻.
