hirahashi　平橋

Lit. flat bridge. A simple kind of garden bridge made with flat wooden boards. In its simplest form, a hirahashi may consist of a single board laid lengthwise. More complex types include the zig-zag pattern of the *yatsuhashi 八橋 or a wooden bracket bridge with handrail.
