hibukuraganna 樋部倉鉋
KEY WORD : architecture / tools

A side-shaving plane. A plane used for smoothing and finishing the sides of a groove. Usually two of these planes are used together as a single set; a right-hand and a left-hand version, used to plane the right and left sides of the groove respectively. The hibukuraganna is smaller than the *wakiganna 脇鉋, and is particularly suitable for shaving narrow grooves. The blade is the same shape as an excavating knife.
