Also called han-akarishouji 半明障子. A pair of sliding screens with a lattice frame covered with translucent paper *shouji 障子, filling about half or somewhat over half of the upper part of each screen. The frame is visible through the paper pasted onto it. The shouji are about 1m high. The lowest part is filled by an opaque panel *fusuma 襖 is less than 1m in height. However, the proportion of shouji to fusuma parts can vary slightly with the fusuma sometimes extending above the halfway point resulting in less shouji area. The pulls for hanshoujibusuma are fitted into the fusuma part. These screens are used in covered passageways, watarirouka 渡廊下.
