gusokudana 具足棚

Lit. Shelves to display armor. They are placed next to an alcove *tokonoma 床の間, where hanging scrolls *kakemono 掛物 paintings or calligraphy are displayed. Small double cupboards called *fukurodana 袋棚 are attached to the ceiling. Just below center is a board shelf stretching from side to side beneath which are more shelves for displaying armor.
