en-nageshi 縁長押

Also written 椽長押; sometimes called *kirime nageshi 切目長押. A non-penetrating tie beam positioned on top of a veranda where the floor boards meet the wall. Since the floor is often made of short cross-cut lengths of timber, kirime-en 切目縁, extending out at right angles to the wall, the broad side of the en-nageshi face the front end of the veranda.
