doufuku  胴服

A man's hip-length jacket, generally worn over other clothing or armor by high-ranking samurai 侍 from the late Muromachi to early Edo periods. An earlier version was originally worn by commoners. doufuku appeared in different styles, fabrics, and decorative motifs.
