doijiki 土居敷

The foundation bed, shiki 敷, of an earthen embankment *doi 土居. It has three sections: the core section, shown by parallel lines descending from the upper level ; the foundation of the outside slope, sotonori 外法, and the foundation of the inside slope, uchinori 内法. The upper level surface of the core section is called tenba 天端, mabumi 馬踏 (hirami 褶 or narashi ならし). The diagonal slopes of the inner and outer sections are called kane 矩.
