deguruwa 出郭

A compound that juts out or is slightly separated from the main components of castle complex, which include: the main compound, *honmaru 本丸, the secondary compound, *ni-no-maru 二の丸 or tertiary compound. It was used as a defensive position from which to protect the main complex, and for engaging the enemy force in a pincer operation. Same as demaru 出丸. .
