butsudou　仏堂

Also called *butsuden 仏殿; bukkaku 仏閣, *kondou 金堂 or *hondou 本堂. Any hall that enshrines a statue of the Buddha *Shaka 釈迦; or statues of any of the myriad Buddhas and bodhisattvas *bosatsu 菩薩; and even statues of those who have yet to obtain enlightenment, bodai 菩提 (Sk: bodhi).
