Ashigarayama 足柄山

A mountain in Kanagawa prefecture associated with legends of *Yamauba 山姥 and *Kintarou 金太郎. Also famous for the story of Shinra Saburou (Minamoto) Yoshimitsu 新羅三郎(源)義光 (d. 1127) who, on a moonlit night in 1087, as he was about to go into battle, returned the ancient bamboo wind instrument shou 笙, and transmitted its musical secret to Toyohara Tokiaki 豊原時秋, whose father had given the instrument to Yoshimitsu.
