amajimai 雨仕舞

Weather stripping, flashing, a rain guard, or any device used to prevent leaks or deflect rainwater. A houju roban 宝珠露盤 placed over the peak of a pyramidal roof *hougyou yane 宝形屋根, found on small, square, or octagonal temple buildings, or at the base *roban 露盤 of the spire *sourin 相輪. An amajimai may also cover the peak of the uppermost point of a pagoda roof.
