amagumi 疎組

Also read mabaragumi; also written 阿麻組 amagumi. A bracket complex *tokyou 斗きょう, placed directly on top of a pillar *hashira 柱. The spaces between the bracket complexes have struts, above which sit bearing blocks *kentozuka 間斗束, or frog leg struts *kaerumata 蟇股, that give additional support to the super-structure. This relatively simple arrangement of bracket complexes and struts placed in the interstices is characteristic of *wayou 和様.
