aikugi 合釘

Also kurekugi 呉釘, kirikugi 切釘. A straight nail with both ends pointed. It is made of wood, bamboo, iron, or bronze and used to join wooden boards. Some are round in cross section and others are square kakuaikugi 角合釘. Note that maruaikugi 丸合釘 refers to a Western type nail, and not a round aikugi.
