AFC - The 3rd Asia Future Conference

The AFC is pleased to announce that we have the following scholarships, special subsidies and awards to encourage you to participate.

A: AFC Scholarship

• The AFC scholarship that will wave both registration fee and accommodation fee (shared room) will be available on an application basis for the selected 50 “promising” researchers. Those who want to apply for this scholarship must submit abstracts (proposals) of full paper before August 31, 2017. The scholarship announcement and application form will be issued to the authors with the acceptance notice. The AFC Academic Committee will send the selection results to all the applicants by January 20, 2018.
• The scholarship grant of selected researcher/s who fail to submit full papers on or before March 31, 2018 will be automatically cancelled.
• Short papers and poster presentation/exhibition are not eligible for this scholarship.

B: Best Paper Awards

• The Best Paper Awards will be given to 20 papers selected by the AFC Academic Committee, from the full papers submitted before March 31, 2018. Abstracts of those papers must be submitted before August 31, 2017, for the submission in time.
• An award certificate, souvenir, and $300 prize will be given to the author or a representative of the author group, whose registration and accommodation (shared room) fees will be waved. (If the author or a representative of the author group has paid the registration and accommodation fees before the announcement, they will be refunded at the conference venue.)
• Best Papers will be included in the “Toward the Future of Asia: My Proposal Vol.4” to be published after the Conference.
• Those who have been awarded AFC Best Paper Awards in the past are not eligible.

Best Paper Selection Policies

Submitted full papers will be evaluated based on the following 5 criteria. Minus points will be given if a paper does not follow the Paper Format Guide.

1. Does this paper contribute to the AFC? Is the theme of this paper in accordance with the AFC#4 Theme “Peace, Prosperity, and Dynamic Future”?
2. Is this paper perspicuous and persuasive?
3. Is this paper original and innovative?
4. Does this paper hold international aspects in some points?
5. Does this paper have an interdisciplinary approach?

C: Best Presentation and Best Poster/Exhibition Awards

• The Best Presentation Awards will be given to one presenter from each general session, to be recommended by session Chairs.
• There will be no Best Presentation Awards in the sessions arranged by groups of presenters
• Best Poster/Exhibition Awards will be given to about 10% of the poster presentations and exhibitions that are selected by the AFC Academic Committee.
• An award certificate and souvenir will be given to the awardees.

D: AFC Special Subsidy (For the scholars from Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan)

• Thanks to the designated donations, AFC Special Subsidies are available for those whose nationalities are of one of the above 5 countries and who live in the same country.
• The amount of the AFC Special Subsidy for each recipient is $810 that includes $240 registration fee and $270 accommodation fee (shared room). These fees will be offset from the subsidy and the recipients will receive $300 in cash at the conference venue.
• The application and selection process is different from the AFC Scholarship. The recipient of AFC Special Subsidy will not be awarded an AFC Scholarship.
• Those who have been awarded AFC Special Subsidies in the past are not eligible.  But this need not apply for  those who have been awarded AFC Scholarship in the past.

E: Raccoon Scholarship and Raccoon Session Subsidies (for Atsumi Raccoon)

• Raccoon scholarship and Raccoon group-session subsidies are available for the members of the Raccoon Association and it will be announced separately.

奨学金と優秀賞

アジア未来会議では、なるべく多くの方々に参加していただくために、下記の通り、奨学金、特別補助金と優秀賞を提供します。

A: AFC奨学金

• 応募者の中から選ばれた50名の将来有望な研究者に対して、登録費と滞在費（相部屋）を全額免除するAFC奨学金を提供します。 – 希望者は、2017年8月31日までに発表要旨（abstract）を投稿してください。発表要旨の合格通知の中に、奨学金の申し込み案内が含まれています。奨学金の希望者は、その案内に従って申し込みをしてください。AFC奨学金の選考結果は、2018年1月20日までに応募者全員に通知されます。
• AFC奨学金に合格しても2018年3月31日までにフルペーパーの投稿がない場合は、アジア未来会議における発表を辞退したと見なされますのでご注意ください。
• 小論文とポスター/展示発表は、AFC奨学金の選考対象にはなりません。

B: 優秀論文賞

• 2018年3月31日までに投稿された論文を対象に、AFC学術委員会が優秀論文を20本選出します。論文投稿の前提として、その発表要旨を2017年8月31日までに投稿しなければなりません。 – 優秀論文の執筆者又は執筆グループの代表者１名の登録費と滞在費（相部屋）は全額免除され、賞状、記念品と、副賞（$300）が贈られます。（登録費と滞在費が納入済みの場合は、会議場にて返金します）
• 論文は会議の後に出版される優秀論文集「アジアの未来へ－私の提案 Vol.4」に収録されます。
• 今までにAFC優秀論文賞を受賞した方は対象外となりますので、あらかじめご了承ください。

選考の方針

期日通りに投稿された論文は、次の5つの指針に沿って審査されます。また、投稿規定に反するものはマイナス点になります。

1．論文のテーマが会議のテーマ「平和、繁栄、そしてダイナミックな未来」と適合しているか。
2．わかりやすく説得力があるか。
3．独自性と革新性があるか。
4．国際性があるか。
5．学際性があるか。

C: 優秀発表賞と優秀ポスター・展示賞

• アジア未来会議の分科会の各一般セッションの座長から推薦を受けた１名に優秀発表賞を授与します。
• グループセッションの発表者は優秀発表賞の対象とはなりません。
• 優秀ポスター・展示賞は、AFC学術委員会によって審査が行われ、全応募ポスター・展示の約10％に授与します。
• 受賞者には、賞状と記念品が贈られます。

D: AFC特別補助金（対象国：インドネシア、フィリピン、ベトナム、タイ、台湾）

• • • • 指定寄附によるAFC特別補助金は、上記5カ国の国籍を有し、その国に居住する研究者が対象となります。
      • AFC特別補助金は$810で、登録費$240と滞在費（相部屋）$270が含まれます（AFC特別補助金から相殺されます）。AFC特別補助金から登録費と滞在費(相部屋)を引いた残りの$300は会議場にて現金で支給されます。
      • AFC特別補助金の申請と選考はAFC奨学金とは別に各国で行われます。AFC特別補助金の受給者はAFC奨学金を受けられません。
      • 過去にAFC特別補助金を受給した人は今回申請できません。ただし過去のAFC奨学金受給者による申請は可能です。
