nure-en 濡縁

Lit. wet veranda. Also called *ochi-en 落縁, kirime-en 切目縁. A shallow veranda that is open to the elements because it is outside of the sliding storm doors *amado 雨戸. Even if the eaves have a long overhang, the nure-en gets wet. The boards are short and placed at right angles to the tracks along which the storm doors slide.
