Also ensou kouhai ‰~‘ŠŒυ”w. A large circular halo *kouhai Œυ”w found on Buddhist images, particularly *Kokuuzou Bosatsu ‹•‹σ‘ •μŽF and *Aizen Myouou ˆ€υ–Ύ‰€. On mandalas the ensoukou surrounds the whole figure, while on statues it frames the head and upper body. The ensoukou encloses smaller halos around the head *zukou “ͺŒυ and body *shinkou gŒυ. Good examples are the Kokuuzou Bosatsu (late 8-early 9c) in Kakuanji ŠzˆΐŽ›, Nara, and the Aizen Myouou (1673) in Chouunji ’·‰_Ž›, Nagano prefecture.
